Benjamin Earl Ervin, 72, of Indianola, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at his home.
Ben was born Feb. 25, 1953, in Ruleville and was the son of Paul Logan Ervin and Catherine Barnett Ervin. He was raised in Indianola, where he graduated from Indianola Academy. Ben earned his Bachelor of Science degree in social work from Delta State University. He was a Mississippi Army National Guard veteran. Ben was extremely kind with a soft heart. He was very positive and funny and had a great laugh. Ben was the entertainer of the family and was an amazing storyteller. He loved his family and was extremely proud of his children. Ben was a member of Indianola First Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Catherine Ervin.
Ben is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Clark Ervin of Indianola; son, Jason Ervin of Canton; daughter, Jennifer Ervin Horner (Matt) of Indianola; two brothers, Paul Ervin (Sharon) of Inverness, and Pat Ervin of Indianola; three sisters, Ann Banks (Ricky) of Greenwood, Mary Lee Branan (Otto) of McComb, and Teresa Grissette (Ricky) of Indianola; and his beloved granddog, Felix “FeFe.”
Visitation was held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Indianola First Methodist Church in Newman Hall. The funeral service began at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Lindsey officiating. Burial followed at Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
