Two men fishing in the Sunflower River in an area between Indianola and Inverness came
across a body submerged in the water Sunday just before 5 p.m. According to a press release
from Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burke, the individual was described as a black male
approximately 50 years of age. The official communication also detailed that the body has been
sent to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office in Pearl for DNA testing to confirm
identity. The deceased is believed to be 51-year-old Johnny Lyons of Indianola.
