I am honored to have this space to share the work of the Indianola Chamber Main Street (ICMS) and to celebrate the people who make our community strong. My name is Carolyn Ann Sledge, and I am the executive director of ICMS.
I would like to begin by inviting you, our community, to take part in one of Indianola’s most meaningful traditions — nominating our next Citizen of the Year.
Each year, we pause to recognize an individual who reflects the very best of Indianola. This honor is not simply about professional success. It is about service, generosity, and a genuine commitment to making our community stronger. The Citizen of the Year is someone who is or has been actively involved in the affairs of Indianola and has made positive contributions to our city beyond their own business or occupation.
Nominations are open to the public, and I encourage you to take a moment to think about the people who quietly and consistently make a difference — those who show up, lend a hand, lead when needed, and give back without expecting recognition. This is your opportunity to ensure their efforts do not go unnoticed.
If you would like to submit a nomination, please email me at carolynann@indianolachamberms.com to request an application. Completed nominations must be returned no later than noon on March 26.
ICMS will announce the 2026 Citizen of the Year at its mixer on April 27 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the B.B. King Museum. I will be sharing more about the mixer next week.
Indianola is defined by her people. Thank you for helping us celebrate those who make this community such a special place to live, work, and serve.
