Spring has arrived in the Delta, bringing a season of activity, progress, and opportunity. Across Indianola and Sunflower County, momentum is building—from our fields to our downtown—and now is a good time to stay engaged and involved.
First, a reminder about the Indianola Bayou Clean-Up taking place on Thursday, April 16 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Volunteers will meet at Turner’s Downtown Market before heading out to different areas of the bayou. Supplies will be provided by Keep Indianola Beautiful. Volunteers should wear appropriate footwear and bring gloves and any tools you use to pick up litter, along with a boat if you have one and can assist on the water. At the conclusion of the clean-up, volunteers will gather behind The Crown for refreshments and fellowship. This effort reflects the pride we have in our community and the strength of our greatest asset—our people. If you have not yet made plans to participate, I encourage you to do so.
As we continue strengthening our Chamber, I ask all members to take a few moments to log into JoinIt at:
https://app.joinit.com/o/indianola-chamber-ms/
to update your contact information and submit your annual dues. If you experience any difficulty with the website, please call or text me at the Chamber office at 662-887-4454, and I will be glad to assist you. Accurate records help us serve you better, and your continued support allows us to expand programs and advocacy on behalf of our business community.
This time of year reminds us that we are, at our core, an agricultural community. Our farmers are in the fields preparing and planting, doing the work that sustains our region and drives our economy. As you travel our roads, please remain mindful of slow-moving farm equipment and exercise extra caution. In addition, construction near the intersection of Highways 82 and 49 requires your attention and patience.
Finally, I encourage you to mark your calendar for one of our most important events of the year—the Annual Chamber Mixer on Monday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center. This evening brings our community together to celebrate the businesses, organizations, and individuals who make Indianola strong. We will present awards recognizing excellence across several categories and announce this year’s recipient of the Morris Lewis, Jr. Citizen of the Year honor. This event stands as a highlight of our year, and I hope you will plan to attend.
Indianola continues to move forward because of people like you—those who show up, step in, and take part. You make the difference.
