Spring Break has begun but there will not be an immediate break from action for the Indianola Academy baseball team.
The IA Colonels will open that tournament Monday by traveling to Kirk Academy in Grenada for this upcoming tournament.
However, that tournament is coming on the heels of Thursday’s first District 1-2A contest of the season when the Colonels hosted North Sunflower Academy.
While game results were unavailable at press time, the Colonels carried a 1-7 record into that night’s play.
As for Monday’s tournament action, the Colonels begin at 1 p.m. that day against Manchester Academy of Yazoo City.
In the event’s final day, Tuesday will find the IA squad taking the field at 9 a.m.
against Winona Christian School.
The Colonels will conclude their participation in the tournament with a 3 p.m. game that same day versus Kemper Academy of Dekalb.
As for other recent baseball action, Tuesday evening found the Colonels hosting Pillow Academy of Greenwood.
That competition ended with the Mustangs claiming a 13-4 victory.
It would be Easton Cook leading the IA five-hit performance as he stroked a double and single during his appearances in the batter’s box.
Meanwhile, this past Monday night saw the IA squad at Tunica Academy where they dropped a 16-12 decision to the Blue Devils.
Collecting nine hits in the contest, the Colonels’ offense was led by Graham Howard, Ty Killebrew, and Easton Lloyd; with each slapping two singles apiece.
With baseball action occurring regularly, last Saturday at Winston Academy of Louisville the Colonels fell by a 16-8 margin to the Patriots.
Howard and Lloyd again paced IA’s seven-hit attack by contributing a pair of singles apiece.
One day earlier on their home field, the Colonels were limited to three hits while falling by a 15-1 score.
Patrick Davis hammered a double to lead the IA offensive efforts.
