Because of your generosity, over $10,000 was raised at The City of Indianola’s First Annual Mayor’s Charity Ball. The community came together in a big way to help the Junior Rams Little League Football Team.
Mayor Ken Featherstone, the Board of Aldermen, along with First Ladies United Fellowship promised a night of glitz and glamour, Top of the Hour Champagne Toasts; amazing food from participating local restaurants to Savor the Indianola Flavor; and dynamic professional musical artists supplied the Sound of Indianola as entertainment. To say they kept their promise is an understatement. Everything the First Annual Mayor's Charity Ball promised was delivered to a sold out crowd of elegantly dressed supporters.
Local businesses contributed goods and services creating an amazing night to remember for all who attended. Reginald Perryman of Reginald Perryman Party Decor & Designs worked cooperatively with Tonia Sims, a member of First Ladies United Fellowship and owner of TLS Celebrations who signed on as one of the decor consultants for the event. Debbie Allen of Indianola Floral Designs provided the elegant centerpieces including the Mayor's table as Petal Pushers designed and contributed wrist corsages for the ladies of First Ladies United Fellowship and boutonierres for the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
Mary Johnson of Mary J's Catering Services worked cooperatively with Cedric Minton of Goodies Catering Services as local participating restaurants sent their specialty dishes ahead to the venue. Betty's Place, Blues Corner Cafe, The Crown; Delta's Corner/Karen's Kitchen; Elite Eats; Nola Restaurant; Rab's Ribs, The Sausage Man, and Sweet Sensations contributed to delectable menu choices at the ball.
Under the musical direction of Jimmie Lee, owner of BoGimme Music Academy and founder of MELOW, professional guest artists kept the audience entertained throughout the night to include, Brother-2-Brother duo Jeremiah and Joshua Crawford; Marion Cork; LaTosha Lewis; Elyssia Jones; Hayden Myrick; Marcus Hampton; Kimberly Randle; Corey Toole; Antonio Jones; Dennis Russell; Charles Jones; and Herbert Lewis.
At the end of this starry night, the Mayor, Board of Aldermen, Dr. Adrian Brown of North Yalobusha Charities, Inc. and First Ladies United Fellowship Mayor's Charity Ball Finance Committee presented a $10, 000 check to the Junior Rams Little League Football Team Head Coach Joe Davis and Assistant Coaches Trell Wiggins; and Andre Adams. (Other assistant coaches include: Mike Jordan; Marvin Kimber; pastor Donnie Logan, Marcus Logan, Dexter James; and Major Rice.)
Head Coach Davis accepted the generous donation stating, "On behalf of the coaching staff, players, and family of players, we'd like to thank Mayor Featherstone, the Board of Aldermen, Dr. Brown of North Yalobusha Charities Inc, First Ladies United Fellowship and the entire community of sponsors and citizens for coming together for the youth in OUR community to help further the Junior Rams Little League Football program." Coach Davis, also a retired Indianola Police Department Sergeant has coached little league football in Indianola for over twenty years — even after his own nephews aged out of the program. He said he continued out of pure devotion to properly develop and prepare young players for middle and high school football programs.
First Ladies United Fellowship’s founder, Cheryl Featherstone, stated, "The Mayor’s Charity Ball is about bringing together citizens who care to invest in our community and see it become a flourishing place to live and thrive for all. It is our fervent hope the First Annual Mayor's Charity Ball has effectively established that one night a year, this exclusive premier gala unites multiple businesses, organizations, elected officials and citizens alike to harness the power of generosity for a better community."
Mayor Featherstone concluded, "I am exceptionally thrilled with the success of our First Annual Mayor's Charity Ball. Job well done Indianola...mission accomplished. Let's go higher next year!"
