According to the solid waste management report, instances of illegal dumping occurring in Sunflower County are declining. Solid Waste Enforcement Officer Stan Bennett said that through his intensified monitoring, there have been only four or five instances of illegal dumping in the traditional high-volume areas on Ford Road, Kinlock Road, and in the industrial park. “When I have come across those who have been dumping, there have been some heated conversations,” Bennett said. “And you’re probably going to get some complaints about that.”
Board Attorney Johnny McWilliams jokingly asked, “What have some of those conversations been like when you have caught people illegally dumping?”
Bennett replied, “I can’t tell you what I told them, it’s something that can’t be printed in the newspaper. I’ll just say that there were some choice words.”
