Lion member Chris Smith invited Betsy Dawson, FNP with the South Sunflower County Hospital’s Wound Care Services to discuss services available to area citizens.
Ms Dawson along with 2 other registered nurses provides much needed wound care services to citizens through the Indianola Family Medical Clinic on Wednesdays from 7:30 am-5:00 pm and Fridays from 7:30 am till noon. No doctor’s referrals are needed and walk-ins are welcome.
Ms. Dawson stayed that the wound care services offered through SSCH has been in operation for three years offering much needed care for such conditions as diabetic foot ulcers, bed sores, surgical wounds, minor burns, skin infections, and all other non-healing wound treatment. The clinic has a much needed wound vac for treatment and also provides total contact casting for injuries.
The clinic sees an average of 35 patients per 1.5 days of operation
Each week. Ms. Dawson stated that diabetic foot care is a major treatment concern as many patients are diabetic and suffer from diabetes- related skin issues.
