GHS Booster Club Meeting
The Gentry High School Booster Club is excited to announce its first meeting of the year! 2025 Chandra C. Jackson Memorial Band Scholarship Announcement
Calling all 2025 Gentry High School graduating senior band students! The 2025 Chandra C. Jackson Memorial Band Scholarship is closing soon for applications! This prestigious scholarship offers a $1,000 award to one deserving graduating senior band student who demonstrates outstanding scholastic and leadership achievements.
Eligibility:
• Must be a 2025 Gentry High School marching band graduating senior.
• Must be attending an accredited institution of higher learning for the 2025/26 academic year.
How to Apply:
To be considered for this scholarship, students should obtain an application by either:
• Emailing Kendra Jimison at kendrajimison2002@yahoo.com. Please include "Scholarship Request" in the subject line.
• Contacting the school counselor or band director.
Application Deadline: All applications must be submitted by JULY 30. Don’t miss this opportunity to be recognized for your hard work and dedication!
Farmers Market
The annual Open Air Farmers Market will conclude this year’s schedule from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. THURSDAY, JULY 31, on the green space in downtown Indianola (corner of Front Ave. & Second St.). The market is open to the community for selling products and items that you have made or modified in some way. Bring your cookies, cakes, jellies, bows, blankets, bonnets and aprons that you have made. The reselling of items is prohibited. There is no fee to participate. Depending upon what you are selling, you may need to provide refrigeration for it. Bring your family and enjoy a treat from one of the food truck vendors, enjoy live music, and purchase fresh produce grown by local farmers, such as squash, cucumbers and tomatoes, as well as flavored pickles, hot tamales, and much more!
Summer Feeding for Kids
Sunflower-Humphreys Counties Progress, Inc. continues their Summer Feeding for Kids program. Open to ages 1 to 18, meals will take place until THURSDAY, JULY 31, at the following locations & times:
Moorhead Community Center – breakfast 8:30-9 a.m. and lunch 12-1 p.m.
Itta Bena Library – breakfast 9-9:30 a.m. and lunch 12-12:30 p.m.
Sunflower Freedom Project – breakfast 8-8:30 a.m. and lunch 12:20-1 p.m.
Delta Hope Foundation – breakfast 8-9 a.m. and lunch 12-1 p.m.
Word of Life Family Center – breakfast 9-10 a.m. and lunch 12-1 p.m.
Bethune Center – breakfast 8:15-8:45 a.m. and lunch 12-12:30 p.m.
