Valentine’s Program and Tea
The public is invited as the youth of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1013 Garrard Road, host their annual Valentine’s Program and Tea at 5 p.m. Saturday. Pastor Albert Lynn of Empowering Temple Church will be the guest speaker. Please contact Tangela or Roloundar Williams for donation information.
Baptist Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Sunflower cordially invites the public to their annual Black History program entitled “Why Y’all Sing Those Ole Sad Songs” at 5 p.m. Saturday. This is a program to educate children about Dr. Isaac Watts and how moans came about in African American churches in the South. Special appearances by the Reverends A.C. and Lillie Gilmore, Lamar Shaw, Willie Binder and Rodney Richard. Poet E.L. Conrod will also come home and contribute to this educational program.
Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, located on Hwy. 49 S., will celebrate their annual Black History Program at 11 a.m. Sunday. In order to "Keep Hope Alive" they will honor four Active Mile Markers: Charles McLaurin, Betty Fowler, Louise Bradford Lloyd and David Rushing. As you may already know, Charles McLaurin is a dynamic Black American historian; Betty Fowler was mayor of two Delta communities; Louise Bradford Lloyd was a civil rights activist; and David Rushing works for the MS Democratic Party, going to all 82 counties organizing and promoting becoming a registered voter, because power is in the vote.
Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church, located at 432 Sunflower Road Ext., Sunflower cordially invites the public to their annual Black History Program at 11 a.m. Sunday. The dress code is African attire.
Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1013 Garrard Road, invites you to their Black History Program which will be presented at 11 a.m. Sunday. Gentry High School 12th grader T’Rossi Pernell, from First United Baptist Church, Moorhead will be the speaker.
New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, Sunflower will present their Black History Program at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The theme is “A century of black life, history, and culture.” The public is invited.
Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, located at 5323 CR547, Moorhead cordially invites the public to the installation service of their newly elected Pastor and First Lady, Rev. Louis and Sarah Bailey at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The installation sermon will be given by Pastor A.C. Gilmore of Greenville.
Ross Ministries Classes
Ross Ministries School of Discipleship’s teaching lesson “Believe: Living the Story of the Bible to Become like Jesus” will conclude for February beginning at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Attend these classes and step out in faith – you won’t know what you're missing until you come to Full Gospel Church, located in the Lovelace Shopping Center beside the Tower Loan building. The public is invited to attend and enroll free-of-charge at any time during the year for the monthly classes.
Youth Day Celebration
Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1301 B.B. King Road, cordially invites the public to their 53rd annual Youth Day Celebration to be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. The speaker for this occasion will be Bell Grove’s very own, Alexia Brock, a graduating senior at Gentry High School. There will also be a special Black History presentation during this service.
Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located at 400 Little Milton Ave., Inverness invites you to come and help them celebrate their 48th Church Anniversary to be held at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.
Indianola First United Methodist Church announces “A Night of Hymns Worship Night” to be held in the historic church sanctuary at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. All are welcome at this community event!
Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, located in the Steiner community, invites the public to their 11th annual pastoral anniversary program for Rev. Rodney Richard and wife, Valincia Richard, at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, March 1. The speaker for the occasion will be Pastor William Earl Reed.
