B.B. King Museum

Kickoff Celebration
May is Community Action Month and Older Americans Month. Senior Companion Week is May 1st through the 5th. There will be a Kickoff Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1 at Sunflower Humphreys Counties Progress, Inc., 414 Martin Luther King Drive. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.
MVSU Alumni Scholarship Green & White Day
The Sunflower County Mississippi Valley State University Alumni Association will present its Annual Scholarship Green and White Day at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at the First United Missionary Baptist Church, 720 Coolidge Street. The theme is “Preserving the Valley, Staying Green.” Dr. Jerryl Briggs, Sr., the eighth president of the university will be the speaker.
Praxis Core Trainings
The Teacher Education Department at Mississippi Valley State University will hold Praxis Core trainings. The following trainings will be available: Reading 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.; Writing 1 p.m. -5 p.m.; and Math 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, in the O.P. Lowe Education Building. Summer Feeding
Program
To all churches and organizations sponsoring summer programs to children between the ages of 1 and 18 years of age. Once again, we are the sponsoring agency for USDA Summer Feeding Program. The program will begin June 1, 2018 and end July 31, 2018. We can provide your children with two meals per day. Headstart Accepting Applications
Save the Children is now accepting applications for Head Start and Early Head Start for the 2018-2019 school year for children ages 6 weeks – 4 years of age and expectant mothers. The following documents are required: birth certificate, 121 immunizations, income, and medicaid card. nTo celebrate National Etiquette Week children can hear the story, Pirates Don’t Say Please written by Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton at the Drew Public Library from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. May 16 and at the Ruleville Public Library May 17. Children will learn about good etiquette and design their own pirate hat, mask, and monocular.
