Registration Dates
Lockard Elementary School announces Student Registration Dates for 2020-2021 School Year – 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade registrations were held earlier this week. Kindergarten registration will be held TODAY from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. Verification needed for Kindergarteners are: birth certificate AND Social Security card AND shot record AND 2 proofs of residency (from June or July) AND valid ID. PLEASE WEAR MASKS!
Farmers Market
Canceled
Indianola Chamber Main Street, along with the Sunflower County Bill Richardson Civic Alliance Group and the Farmers Market Board of Directors, has made the decision to not have the Farmers Market this year. For the safety of the community, and especially for senior citizens, this is their effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Teacher Workshops
The Humphreys Co. / Sunflower Co. SWCD will be hosting several workshops this summer for teachers needing CEU credits. Each workshop offers 5 credits and is free. For more information contact Tammy Kitchens at 662-207-8264 or via email: tammy.kitchens@usda.gov.
Small Business
Assistance
The Regions Foundation recently announced grant funding for 10 additional organizations that are helping small businesses impacted by the novel coronavirus. The Regions Foundation is an Alabama-based nonprofit initiative of Regions Bank that supports community investments. One of the recipients receiving grant funding is CompuRecycling Center, Inc., located in Greenville. The nonprofit CompuRecycling Center, Inc. serves as a source of technical assistance for minority, women-owned and emerging businesses throughout the Mississippi Delta. The center is available for day-to-day assistance and counseling for clients whose operations have been affected by the coronavirus. Additionally, the center is working to connect businesses with information and options for contracting with local, state and federal agencies, where possible, during the crisis.
