Bears Den Meeting
The next Bears Den steering committee meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday at Betty's Place.
Food Box Pick Up
The Sunflower County/Bill Richardson Civic Alliance Group will issue food boxes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 9 and from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 to those certified to receive food boxes. Boxes not picked up by 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday will then be issued from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. to persons on the waiting list. The Group does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability (not all prohibited bases apply to all programs).
Poster/Essay Contest
Full Gospel Apostolic Faith Church invites children in elementary grades 2 through 5 and secondary grades 6 through12 to participate in a community-based focus on “Violence vs. Hope.” Students in elementary grades 2 and 3 may create a poster conveying the message. Students in grade 4 and 5 must create a poster and attach written information about their poster (1 page only). Secondary students in grades 6 through 12 must write an essay on the topic, Violence vs. Hope, on-site or write the essay in a controlled environment without assistance (electronic devices are not allowed). Monetary prizes will be awarded. Posters will be accepted March 9 through13 and written essays will begin on Thursday, March 12 through 16 from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; or on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. Contact Miss Dee (662-887-5651) for details.
Twice-Monthly FREE Clothes Give-Away
Jesus is the Way Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 600 Church Street, hosts a twice-monthly FREE clothes give-away from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the first Tuesday and second Saturday of every month.
