Annual Banquet and Parade
Minter Spring Lodge #39 and J. Johnson Chapter #153 O.E.S. will have their Annual Banquet and Parade. The parade will start on Moorhead Avenue, Moorhead beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11. The Banquet will start at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Donation for the banquet is $20.00. The public is invited to attend both events.
Moorhead School Building Project Update
Please come out to get an update on where we are in the process of the additions/renovations at Moorhead Middle School at 6 p.m. November 9, in the Moorhead Middle School Cafeteria. At this meeting, we will also begin compiling a list of options for the school name, school mascot, and school colors! We look forward to seeing you there!
SCCSD Monthly Board Meeting
Sunflower County Consolidated School District November Board Meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16 at the Indianola Central Office, Hwy49 N 196 MLK Jr. Road.
MVSU Alumni Annual Scholarship Dance
The Sunflower County Mississippi Valley State Alumni Association will have their Annual Scholarship Dance at 8 p.m. Saturday, November 25. Admission is $10.00. This event will be held at St. Benedict the Moor Center, 403 Church Street. This benefit will help deserving students attending Mississippi Valley State University. This event is open to the public. Individuals that would like tickets may contact any member of the Sunflower County Alumni Association.
MSU Extension Services
nThere will be a Conservation Field Day Friday, November 3 in Tchula, MS. This partnership with NRCS will feature a whole host of conservation practices utilized on a farm. Morning talks included are tailwater recoveries, installation of pads and flowmeters a well as others. That afternoon will shift toward a wildlife focus. nThere will be a private pesticide applicator certification training and recertification at the Washington County Extension Office starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, November 8. A $20.00 fee per person is charged for the Private Applicator Certification Training Program. A check payable to MSU-ES is the preferred method of payment. NO CASH. nThe 2017 Delta Area Rice Meeting will be held at the Bolivar County Extension office on November 14, 2017. Mississippi rice producers, industry professionals, and other interested parties are invited to listen to presentations from MSU Research and Extension faculty on a wide range of topics. nYoung adults create your own pillow with the non-sewing tying technique the Henry M. Seymour Library from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on November 9.
nCreate a charming bookmark at the Drew Library from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. November 13 and on November 16 at the Ruleville Library.
nFrom November 13-22, 2017 stop by the Drew and Ruleville Public Libraries and write on a leaf for what you are most thankful!
nMeet Llama Llama and other book characters from 10 a.m. to 11:30 am. at the Henry M. Seymour Library on December 2.
nCreate healthy habits at the Henry M. Seymour Library at 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays by stretching it out with yoga.
