On July 24 at 1:38 a.m., a 42-year-old Deering Street, Cleveland man said two men were seen on video surveillance going into the West End Laundry in the 500 block of U.S. Highway 82 West and trying to break into the coin machines. Surveillance video showed the duo kicking and trying to pry open the coin machines. They also took a bar of soap and damaged the deadbolt on a door.
On July 24 at 7:14 a.m., a Herman Johnson Street woman said that she has been receiving numerous threatening messages by way of Facebook Messenger since she made a post about her son. She said that she fears for her safety and wants a report placed on file. A woman in her early thirties is named as the suspect.
On July 24 at 9:01 a.m., a Bates Avenue woman said someone spilled paint on her unspecified vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of Front Avenue.
On July 24 at 10:02 a.m., a Bayou Drive man said when he arrived at his store in the 400 block of U.S. Highway 82 East the glass door had been broken out and someone had gone in and stolen several pairs of Polo pants and Polo shirts. The suspect also took some jewelry and several pairs of jeans.
On July 24 at 3:14 p.m., a Main Street man said that his neighbor, a 30-year-old Main Street man, is constantly harassing him and yelling comments at him whenever they come in contact with each other outside of their homes.
On July 24 at 3:18 p.m., an Easy Street man said that six windows in his rent house, located in the 600 block of Garrard Avenue, had been damaged. He reported that he had recently replaced the windows, but they were damaged again, so now he plans to evict the occupant.
On July 25 at 4:59 p.m., a 25-year-old South Davis Circle woman said that her ex-boyfriend, a 30-year-old Wiggins Road man, is harassing her.
On July 25 at 8:35 p.m., a 22-year-old Beaverdam Road woman said that she was assaulted by a mental patient while working at Platinum Plus Care in the 600 block of U.S. Highway 82 West. She said the 29-year-old woman punched and bit her.
On July 26 at 2:17 a.m., officers responded to Alford’s Embroidery in the 800 block of U.S. Highway 82 West because of a burglar alarm. They found a glass window broken out and that someone had gone into the business, so they contacted the owner. Video surveillance showed a man going into the store and unsuccessfully attempting to pry open the cash register with a crowbar. The man subsequently left the store with the register, which reportedly contained $10 in coins.
On July 26 at 3:13 a.m., a Magnolia Drive woman said someone broke into the Lost Pizza Company in the 800 block of U.S. Highway 82 West and took a donation jar containing $10 for the animal shelter. Video surveillance showed that it was the same man who broke into Alford's.
On July 26 at 7:24 a.m., a Gray Avenue man said someone stole his black Taurus GX4 9mm handgun, valued at $350, from the top of his dresser mirror at his home.
On July 26 at 9:48 a.m., a 35-year-old Heathman Avenue man said he got a phone call from Love's Travel Stop and someone told him that his Citi Diamond Preferred credit card was being used at the store. The man said he went to his business, located in the 500 block of U.S. Highway 82, where he had left the card and found that the business had been broken into. He said the card was left on top of the computer, which is where the suspect took it from. The culprit was able to gain entry into the business by damaging a south side window.
On July 26 at 9:57 a.m., a Love's Travel Stop employee said that a 32-year-old Hull Circle man came into the store and stole a case of mini Bic cigarette lighters valued at $106.47. He then returned the case of lighters and just took one. Reportedly, the man had previously been banned from the store.
On July 26 at 12:02 p.m., a Heron Street woman reported unspecified vandalism damage to her garage door.
On July 27 at 4:36 a.m., a 57-year-old Gamble Street, Greenville man said that his wife, a 54-year-old Gamble Street, Greenville woman, hit him with an unspecified vehicle while he was walking in the area of Bates and Curtis streets. He said he hung on to the mirror thinking she would stop, but she did not. The man said he was dragged by the vehicle and reportedly had injuries to his knees, drag marks on his back and scrapes behind his head. He was transported to the South Sunflower County Hospital for treatment. He said his wife was upset because they are separated.
On July 27 at 9:04 a.m., a 26-year-old West Gresham Street man said someone stole a 2014 Hyundai Sonata, valued at $5,000. The man said the vehicle was at his home around 1:00 a.m. when he walked his dog, but when he awoke at 9:00 a.m., it was gone. Another West Gresham Street man is listed as the owner.
On July 27 at 8:01 p.m., an East Third Street woman said that a 68-year-old patient at Indianola Health and Rehab was assaulted by an employee, a 49-year-old West Jefferson Avenue, Greenwood man. The employee was reportedly trying to dress the patient, who reportedly has dementia, when the man began cussing and acting up. The patient was reportedly transported to the South Sunflower County Hospital where X-rays showed a fractured orbital, so he was transported to Jackson to see a specialist.
On July 27 at 4:37 p.m., a West Gresham Street man said he was traveling west on Augusta Street when he ran over a pothole that was covered with water and damaged a tire on his vehicle. The vehicle was reportedly taken to a repair shop in Greenville that advised that the tire could not be repaired, so it was reportedly replaced at a cost of $169.87.
On July 27 at 9:22 p.m., a Roosevelt Street woman said that while her daughters were standing out in her front yard a George Baird Road woman passed by in a vehicle and fired a shot. The woman then yelled a three-word insult out of the window. No injuries were reported, but charges were reportedly filed.
On July 28 at 3:20 a.m., officers responded to O'Reilly's Auto Parts store in the 700 block of U.S. Highway 82 East because of a burglar alarm. Upon arrival they found the back door unlocked and when the key holder, a 32-year-old Stuart Street woman, arrived, they found that a cash register containing $10 was missing. A 59-year-old Curtis Street man is listed as a possible suspect.
On July 28 at 7:10 a.m., officers on patrol noticed that the glass door to Sherwin-Williams paint store was broken out. They found out that someone had entered the store through the door and had rambled through the drawers at the counter and in the office and that three buckets of paint, valued at $200, were missing. They found a brick at the store that was used to break the door, which was valued at $1,000. A 59-year-old Curtis Street man is listed as the suspect.
On July 28 at 9:44 a.m., a 22-year-old West Augusta Street woman said that while she was sitting in her vehicle near Church Avenue and Mill Street, her ex-boyfriend, a 31-year-old Ethel Waters Drive man, approached her vehicle and hit it with beer bottles. She said although he is her ex-boyfriend they have a child together.
On July 28 at 7:40 p.m., officers were called to the Southgate area near the Bethune Center because of a person openly carrying a weapon. A 19-year-old Ethel Waters Drive woman is listed as the suspect.
On July 28 at 4:48 p.m., a 46-year-old McKennedy Drive, Greenwood woman said that a 44-year-old Heron Street man borrowed her vehicle to go somewhere, but when he got back he told her that his baby's mama had damaged the radio in the vehicle when they got into an altercation.
On July 28 at 3:23 p.m., officers were called to the 200 block of Julianne Drive about undisclosed vandalism.
On July 28 at 1:23 p.m., an Illini Court, Springfield, Illinois woman said that when she returned home on July 26 she found that someone had caused $1,000 worth of damage to her 2015 Hyundai Sonata by damaging the steering column and breaking out a window.
On July 29 at 9:09 p.m., officers responded to the emergency room at the South Sunflower County Hospital where a 39-year-old Roosevelt Street man said that he had allowed a 46-year-old Hampton Street man to use his lawn mower, but when he told the man that the mower needed oil in it, the man hit him with a closed fist that caused injuries to the right side of his face and his right eyelid. However, he refused to press charges.
On July 29 at 11:38 a.m., a Maybelle Street woman said that she received notification from a bank in Ohio that she had an outstanding loan balance of $2,900 on an account that she did not know about. She said the bank advised her that they would send a fraud package in the mail for her to process. Upon receiving the packet she learned that her ex-husband, a Lewis Road, Isola man, had taken out the loan. The ex-husband was contacted and offered to pay her $3,000, but reportedly charges were filed.
On July 29 at 6:15 p.m., a 30-year-old Mitchell Street, Itta Bena woman was reportedly arrested and charged with DUI after officers were called to the area of the Wendy's restaurant about a reckless driver. They caught up with her at the gas pumps in front of Love's Travel Stop. The woman reportedly got out of the vehicle smelling of alcohol and slurring her speech. She reportedly told the officers that she had just left the casino where she had been drinking. She was transported to the police department and issued an intoxalizer test.
On July 30 at 9:14 a.m., a 47-year-old Airport Road man said that when he got home he saw a 33-year-old Beaverdam Road woman, who is the mother of his children, in the parking lot of his apartment complex. He said while giving her a ride home she began asking him questions about where he had been. She then assaulted him by cutting him on the wrist with a pair of scissors, scratching him on the neck and hitting him in the face. He said the woman then circled back to the apartment parking lot where she was seen cutting the two back tires on his truck. The tires were valued at $140. He said they have been separated for over a year.
On July 30 at 9:44 p.m., a Wiggins Road man said that he and a 24-year-old Updike Road, Shaw woman got into a disagreement in the 500 block of Forrest Street. As a result of the disagreement the woman reportedly damaged the front windshield, outside storage compartment doors, inside bedroom closet space, bedroom mirror, kitchen countertop and electric oven in his RV. He said the woman also took his handgun.
On July 31 at 12:05 a.m., a North MacArthur Circle woman, who is a foster mother, said that the foster child in her care left her home without permission. She said the child was on the phone before a black truck arrived at the house to pick her up. The child then walked out of the front door and got into the truck, so Child Protective Services was notified.
On July 31 at 1:16 a.m., a Cherokee Lane woman said that someone had stolen her 2016 Kia Optima from her home. Officers on patrol spotted the car coming from the Birdsong Street/Garrard Avenue area and were able to make contact with the driver near Curtis Street and Garrard Avenue. Two men jumped out of the car and ran. One of them dropped a cell phone and the other one dropped a hoodie.
On July 31 at 6:49 a.m., a Carver Street woman said someone broke the back passenger-side window out of her black Kia Rio and damaged the steering wheel column. She said that the last time she drove it was around 2:00 p.m., on July 30 and when she came out to leave for work that's when she discovered the damages. She said video surveillance did not show anyone going into the vehicle. Total damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,300.
On July 31 at 7:29 a.m., a 73-year-old Alexander Street woman reported that someone damaged the back passenger-side window and steering wheel column on her 2016 Kia Soul.
On July 31 at 8:40 a.m., a Garvins Ferry Road, Baird woman said someone broke into her 2009 Chevrolet Malibu while it was parked in the 400 block of Faison Avenue. The woman said she parked the vehicle there around 2:00 a.m., and when she came out she found that the windows had been broken, but apparently nothing was taken.
On July 31 at 11:07 a.m., a Chandler Street man said his ex-girlfriend, a 34-year-old Church Avenue woman, has been harassing him by sending text messages and following him around town. He said they have been separated for three months and that she has been harassing some of his family members also. He wanted to have a report on file in case something happens.
On July 31 at 2:15 p.m., a Main Street woman, who is reportedly Black, said she got into a verbal altercation with a 57-year-old Chatham Drive, Greenville man, who is reportedly White, because she did not want to talk to him. They allegedly hadn't spoken in three months and when he tried to talk to her, she told him that she did not want to talk, but he kept trying to talk to her about the driveway. She said he began to get loud and so she got loud also. They started cussing each other. The woman stated that she called him a crackhead and the man called her the “N” word. The woman stated that she has been having trouble with the neighbor ever since they moved there and wanted to file a report.
On July 31 at 10:03 p.m., officers were called to the 100 block of Campbell Drive regarding a trespassing. When they got there, a Campbell drive man was holding a 21-year-old Cleveland Street man at gunpoint. Police ordered the man to put the weapon down and when he did, the 21-year-old ran away. The Campbell Drive man said he felt like something suspicious was going on at his home, so he parked his vehicle down the street and walked home and when he got there the man was in his house sitting at the foot of a bed.
On August 1 at 9:16 a.m., officers were called to the Sunflower County Courthouse about property damage where they found a bullet hole in the top of a 2024 Nissan SUV.
On August 1 at 4:27 p.m., a 47-year-old Pershing Avenue woman said that her ex-boyfriend, a 58-year-old Bellevue Drive man, pushed the cardboard out of the side of her windows near her air conditioning unit and broke the window blinds. She said he left right afterwards and that she has told him several times to stay away from her home. The woman said she wanted to file charges against the man.
On August 1 at 4:51 p.m., a woman said that she was robbed at gunpoint in the 900 block of Broadmoor Drive. A 20-year-old Broadmoor Drive man and a 31-year-old Hoover Street man were named as suspects. There was also an unnamed person listed. They reportedly stole her Shein purse and some keys. One of the suspects ran into the Mongoose Pool Hall on Curtis Street and was found hiding in a closet and another was seen walking along Garrard Avenue and thereby arrested. Officers reportedly seized a bronze colored Glock 9mm handgun and a black Luger 9mm weapon along with a 0.5 oz bag of marijuana.
On August 1 at 8:40 p.m., a West Gresham Street woman said that some neighborhood kids broke her window out.
On August 1 at 6:23 p.m., officers were called to Walmart because a 34-year-old Hough Avenue man reportedly walked into the store and stole a can of freon valued at $41.29. The man later came back and attempted to walk out of the store with window tint, another can of freon and an air filter valued at $72.51. He got into a vehicle and left the area, but officers were able to get his address based on tag information. Upon arrival at his home, the family refused to cooperate with police, so the officers attempted to have the vehicle towed, but the man came out of the woods, surrendered and was subsequently arrested and transported to the Indianola police department.
On August 2 at 8:42 a.m., a 73-year-old Garrard Avenue woman said someone stole her wallet, valued at $30, and her debit cards in the 1200 block of U.S. Highway 82 East.
On August 2 at 4:32 p.m., a 25-year-old East Washington Street woman said that her aunt, a 64-year-old North Southern Avenue, Moorhead woman, assaulted her and her mother. She said the aunt asked her to go to her house to see if a check had arrived and it had not. So when she told her aunt that the check had not come that is when the aunt got upset and assaulted them.
On August 3 at 12:55 a.m., officers conducted a business compliance check at Club Lit in the 200 block of Church Avenue. Several people were inside the building and there was reportedly a strong aroma of marijuana. The officer saw purchasing signs for alcohol, but no appropriate license for the sale of alcohol. There was a variety of alcoholic beverages inside of coolers. They found a SCCY 9mm handgun, 9mm Luger rounds, a black wallet with numerous cards inside, a mason jar containing marijuana, 13 packs of Swisher Sweet cigarillos, a Vortex cell phone, four $20 bills, 21 $1 bills, three $50 bills in a wallet and $41 cash, but they were unable to find the manager. The occupants of the club were cleared out while the officers conducted their check of the building. The doors were eventually locked by the police and all items were placed into evidence.
On August 3 at 11:08 a.m., a 24-year-old Julianne Drive woman said that her child's father, a 24-year-old Pond Street, Doddsville man, came to her home and they got into a verbal altercation. She said the man put his hand very close to her face, she pushed his hands away and told him to leave. And with that, he punched her in the face with his fist leaving her with a busted lip. She said he then quickly ran off and she wants to file charges.
