At their January meeting, the members of Crepe Myrtle Garden Club were given an enlightening and informative presentation by Tashe Gardner from Indianola Floral Design on flower arrangements using the January Flower of the Month, Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus).
The chilly winter month of January is commonly associated with this cheery and widely available cut flower known for its frilly petals and sweet fragrance. They come in a spectrum of colors, including white, pink, red, purple, and even green. Their ruffled appearance, spicy-sweet scent, and long, sturdy stems make them a favorite for floral arrangements and bouquets. Due to their versatility and durability, carnations are used in a variety of settings, from formal events and weddings to everyday occasions, and frequently show up in boutonnieres and corsages.
