Indianola firefighter charged with arson

A career firefighter with the City of Indianola and the town of Belzoni has been arrested and charged with arson.
According to the state fire marshal’s office, Damion Tyler Martin has been charged with two counts of first-degree arson.
Bond has been set at $150,000 for each count, the fire marshal’s office said.

IPD continues hit-and-run death investigation

The Indianola Police Department continues to investigate a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of Dianne Carter, 57, late Tuesday night, July 16, or early that Wednesday morning. Sheriff following leads in Doddsville shooting

Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood’s department is following some leads in an apparent shooting into a dwelling Doddsville nearly three weeks ago.
Haywood is seeking the public’s help in identifying the shooter, whom a family said opened fire on the home at around 10:30 p.m. nearly two weeks ago.
