Board puts brakes on transit van purchase

The Indianola Police Department will have to wait a bit longer for the purchase of a transport van the department requested over a month ago.
During Monday’s board meeting, Ward 4 Alderman Marvin Elder brought up a concern about the claims docket involving the purchase of the 2024 16-passenger van.

State high court suspends former Clarksdale judge Carlos E. Moore

The Supreme Court of Mississippi Bar Complaint Tribunal has suspended former Clarksdale Municipal Judge Carlos E. Moore.
In the 21-page opinion and final judgement filed Dec. 31, the Mississippi Bar suspended Moore from practicing in the Magnolia State and that suspension is also recognized in various other states in the country.

Two Indianola teens are among three people charged in the November 30, 2024 murder of 18-year-old Ivory Jackson.
Nickavin Briscoe, 17, Jakylen Golston, 17 and Ronald Turner, 23, were all three apprehended in the past week and charged with the murder of Jackson, who was a Gentry High School sophomore at the time of his death.
