In response to recent homicides and the recent surge in gun-related violence in the city, Indianola police chief Markricus “Bo” Hibbler announced on Tuesday that he will be conducting a special Crime Prevention Outreach event that will be held at the Indianola Police Department on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Hibbler said that he, along with Lead Investigator Sergeant Irish Johnson and Assistant District Attorney Takiyah Perkins, will be addressing the community regarding the recent homicides, gun crimes and the need for the community to be involved in helping solve those crimes.
Hibbler said he wants to bridge the gap between the police department and the community and let the citizens know what the department is doing to combat violent crimes.
He stressed that this is not going to be a political rally and that no politicians will speak.
This is exclusively a platform for the police and district attorney's office.
"This is strictly law enforcement addressing public concerns," Hibbler said.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
In addition, there will be a special unveiling at the end of the meeting.
