Two suspects were arrested and charged in one murder, while a suspect is yet to be named in another.
Indianola police investigators said that they are still actively pursuing leads in connection with both cases, which occurred on back-to-back days in late April.
It's been nearly two weeks since the city of Indianola was rocked by not one, but two homicides within just over a 24-hour period. The violent death of business owner Jamie Iverson and the equally senseless death of Delexius Betties has kept law enforcement officials scrambling for days in search of clues and suspects.
Iverson was killed on Friday during an apparent robbery and Betties was shot on Saturday evening while riding in his vehicle on Pershing Avenue.
Investigator Regina Simpson said on Tuesday that they are still interviewing people but have no new information that can be disclosed at this time.
"Just know we are looking to make another arrest on the Iverson case," she said, "And Sgt. (Irish) Johnson was interviewing people today on Betties' case."
Arrests were made on April 27 and two men were booked into the Sunflower County jail on April 28 and charged with capital murder in connection with Iverson’s death with the indication that more arrests are expected.
Daquarius Wright and Kenterius Wright were charged and are being held without bond in the Iverson murder.
The investigation into Betties’ murder has proven to be less fruitful, but Indianola police have not given up.
Police are still encouraging anyone with any information on either case to please come forward.
A monetary reward was offered for leads in the Iverson case, but there has yet to be a mention of any such reward with regard to Betties’ death.
