Widow will fill Gaston’s seat

Sunflower Supervisors on Monday appointed the widow of the late Ben Gaston to represent District 3 until a special election can be held next year.
The vote came after the board received a letter from Mrs. Sherry Gaston requesting the appointment.

Heavy equipment soon will be moving in and the walls at the northeast corner of Front and Second Street will be tumbling down. The abandoned historic structures , some of which were damaged in a fire, will be demolished as part of a Chamber of Commrce led downtown redevelopment program.
