A couple of days ago I watched the magnificent DC parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US army. It depicted the early days of the Revolutionary War; continuing through the battles of the Civil War; the World Wars I and II and so on. The outfits of the soldiers in each segment were meticulously displayed. Finally, the evening concluded with a startling fireworks exhibition. It is telling that in the hours before it started Governor Tim Waltz of Minnesota said he hoped it would rain on the parade. It didn't. Just to think, here is a man who could have been the country's vice president had Kamala not been defeated in an election landslide! He showed how unpatriotic he really is!
The far Left seems to have taken over the Democratic party. Almost all party members (except Fetterman) seem to be cow-towing to their philosophy. The compliant traditional media appears to support them. A very recent example is the scuffle involving freshman Senator Padilla of California at Kristy Noem's speech explaining the actions of ICE in Los Angeles. Noem explained that ICE was targeting "the worst of the worst." The media reported the Secret Service forced the senator from the room and took him to the ground before handcuffing him. The senator said that he was there "peacefully," and "began to ask a question." I watched the incident in real time. The Senator was there without any identification and SHOUTED at Noem while she was giving her speech. Back in DC, even Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, without investigating the true facts, echoed the story that Padilla had been brutally silenced for expressing an opinion that Trump disagreed with. In fact, it was a rude interruption, and the Secret Service handled it professionally. It is hard to escape the conclusion that the Left supports the cause of the worst of the worst.
Regarding the LA riots, US Representative Maxine Waters said she attended them and found them to be "largely peaceful." Again, I have watched these riots on TV and have seen young men throwing rocks at passing cars and Molotov cocktails at police cars, setting them ablaze. Many trample and burn American flags. Waters’ statement is like saying that a person who murders only one person annually or who rapes only two young girls per year is "largely peaceful." Furthermore, the Left is critical of ICE personnel wearing masks. They compare them to Gestapo. The true reason that ICE members wear masks is to hide their identity because opponents could trace them to their homes and then attack them and their families.
All of these actions follow earlier assaults on American history. Statues of past heroes have been pulled down and destroyed. In many schools teaching of woke ideology has been deemed more important than considerations of our nation's glorious past. Let's hope this can be turned around so the Shake-speare's saying becomes true: "the past is prologue."
