Delta Health Alliance is set to break ground on a major $10 million USDA-funded expansion of Leland Medical Clinic that will establish the Mississippi Delta Cares Center—a new facility designed to house Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech Therapy, and Dentistry services.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 7 at 8:30 a.m. at 201 Baker Boulevard in Leland.
“The Mississippi Delta Cares Center reflects our continued commitment to providing accessible, high-quality care to individuals and families across the Delta,” said Dr. Karen Matthews, CEO of Delta Health Alliance. “This expansion will allow us to meet critical rehabilitative and dental needs right here in our community, helping residents recover, strengthen, and thrive without having to travel far for services.”
The new center builds upon the success and impact of the Leland Medical Clinic, a hub for comprehensive care in the region since 2013. As a Recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, the clinic is known for its integrated, patient-first approach to healthcare. Over the years, Leland Medical Clinic has expanded its offerings to include:
• A state-of-the-art X-ray machine for rapid diagnostics
• A mammography program offering local breast cancer screenings
• A mobile health clinic that brings care to underserved areas
• Behavioral therapy and substance use treatment options
• The Delta Wellness Center, which includes fitness programs and nutrition education
• Transportation assistance to eliminate access barriers
• Innovative health initiatives promoting chronic disease management, healthy eating, and preventive care
These services have made the clinic a trusted medical home for thousands, including individuals without health insurance and those managing complex conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
The addition of the Mississippi Delta Cares Center marks a significant next step in DHA’s mission to provide a full spectrum of care tailored to the region’s needs.
