U.S. Department of Agriculture State Director of Rural Development Dane Maxwell was the keynote speaker as Delta Health Alliance broke ground on a new facility, made possible by an award for $9,999,400 funded through USDA’s Community Facilities Emergency Rural Health Care Grant.
These funds will be used to construct a rural care center which will be connected to the existing Leland Medical Clinic structure and will be used as a treatment center for patients in need of rehabilitative care.
“USDA Rural Development is here to provide support to our rural communities, and we are committed to partnering with rural leaders like the Delta Health Alliance to create strong and healthy communities across the state,” Maxwell said. “The goal with any investment we make is to improve the quality of life for Mississippians, and we believe increasing access to modern and accessible healthcare is a key component of achieving this goal.”
Delta Health Alliance (DHA) is a partnership that binds together communities of the Mississippi Delta to improve the quality of life of rural residents by offering programs focused on increasing healthcare access, research, and education. The project will consist of 4,000 square feet of new construction. Funds will also be used to provide a regional consortium of community leaders and health care partners to plan, implement and evaluate patient treatment.
USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas.
