Ed Doyle Crick, age 93, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025.
A native of Sunflower County, Mississippi, Ed demonstrated responsibility early on by driving a school bus during his senior year of high school. He went on to graduate from Mississippi State University with a major in accounting and a commission in the U.S. Air Force. He served two years in the Air Force Audit Agency (AFAA). Following his military service, Ed dedicated nearly 34 years to the AFAA as a civilian, holding leadership positions in Oklahoma, Texas, California and Maryland. After retirement, he then accepted a job as chief financial officer with a private Maryland company. Upon his second retirement in 1992, Ed and his wife, Faye, embarked on a new chapter in Maryville, Tennessee, settling in the Royal Oaks community where they embraced retirement, notably taking up golf and enjoying their time together. They were both active in the community, with Ed serving on the Royal Oaks Property Owners Association Board of Directors for over 15 years. He was also the association's accountant for many years. Since 2014, he lived in the Shannondale Retirement Center in Maryville. Ed was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Grover Crick; his wife of 70 years, Faye E. Crick; son, Bryan Dale Crick; sister, Neva Lovell; brother, Lloyd; sister, Peggy Jones; brothers-in-law, Malcolm Lovell and Bert Jones; and sister-in-law, Helen Crick.
Ed is survived by his son, Steven Wesley Crick, and daughter-in-law, Rhonda, of Fletcher, North Carolina; sister, Thelma Riley (Tanner), of Bentonville, Arkansas; and step-grandchildren, Austin Ryder and Amanda Ryder.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, April 22, at Smith Funeral Home, Maryville, Tennessee. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Laura Baker from Shannondale. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
