What is your full title and position?
Co-owner & partner of 82 Outlet & Magnolia Marketplace
What is your educational background?
Graduated from Indianola Academy; bachelor’s degree in marketing from Mississippi State
Describe the moment when you first knew that you were going to be a business owner.
82 Outlet Store was not the first business I’ve been a part of. I’ve been involved with farming & an auction company also for a good part of my life. I wanted to open 82 Outlet because I love quality merchandise but at a really good price. That’s been my goal since I opened 82 Outlet.
What is the most fulfilling part about owning your own business?
I like being able to provide a local source of good quality products at economical prices. People can shop for home furnishings, appliances, mattresses and more right here in Indianola without having to travel far away.
What are some of the challenges to owning your own business?
This past year has been challenging from the standpoint of keeping inventory and employees.
Both have been in short supply. We’ve done a pretty good job of keeping inventory because of good relationships with the suppliers.
In what ways do you try to influence the women that you encounter each day?
I always try to tell women I’m around and that I work with that they can do anything.
Don’t wait on someone else to do it for you.
Just jump in and do it yourself. I’ve tried to instill this in my daughters & their friends too.
Who are some of the biggest women influencers in your life? Why?
My mother is probably my biggest influence.
She was always one of my biggest supporters.
She was such a hard worker & a strong woman. She was a big part of helping me at 82 Outlet until she passed away 5 years ago.
I still have customers come in and talk about her.
