Indianola duo B2B looking to get signed
By Patrick Ervin
Instruments and vocals come together to form the perfect pitch in the talented Indianola singing duo B2B (Brother to Brother). Siblings, 19-year-old Jeremiah and 16-year-old Joshua have natural musical gifts that have led them to seek a recording contract. “The most amazing thing about these two young men is that they have no formal musical training,” according to a press release sent to the Enterprise-Tocsin from the duo’s PR firm Cherry Publicity in Atlanta. “They are such phenoms!
Jeremiah and Joshua both got their starts in music in early elementary school by singing and playing in church. Joshua’s mother, Tamesa recorded her son singing leads at a church program when he was about 6 years old and let him hear the recording. “I was like wow!” Joshua said. “I sounded really good!”
Jeremiah sings backup vocals and plays several instruments including base, keyboard, lead guitar, organ and bongos. He is also a self-made producer and sound engineer for B2B. Jeremiah writes songs for the group. Both have music deep in their bloodlines. “My dad is a musician and he bought Jeremiah a drum set when he was about 5 or 6 years old,” Tamesa said. “Over the years, birthdays and Christmas have been full of musical instruments, equipment and amplifiers. I made a conscious decision to not bring anymore instruments to the house, but they still transformed my mom and dad’s garage into a musical studio.”
Tamesa also said that her sons are looking for different venues to expose their talents to the right people because even though Indianola has produced great artists, there are still no major clubs or places to demonstrate their talent.
In addition to working with a publicist, B2B has let the world see their talents on YouTube by singing and playing covers of Anthony Hamilton’s “Best of Me” and D’Angelo’s “Lady.”
Joshua sang a couple of bars of “Best of Me” during our interview. “Some of my influences include BB King and James Brown.” Jeremiah added, “I like Earth, Wind and Fire and Michael Jackson.”
B2B seems to have their fashion game together as well, coordinating all of their own outfits for singing covers and making videos. They have upcoming performances at metro Atlanta's Soul & Blues Backyard Music Festival on June 18 at Seaside Grille of Lilburn.
The brothers look forward to not only signing with a label but also long careers in the industry. Joshua said that he sees himself with about three Grammys and a five-bedroom house in about five years. Both know too that their talents will sometimes take them in different directions, but always vow to remember one another. “There will always be a B2B,” Jeremiah said. “This is my brother who has been here with me from the beginning.”
