Last Saturday, aspiring young authors gathered at Mt. Beulah M.B. Church in Indianola for the Youth Entrepreneurship Bookcamp, an event dedicated to nurturing creativity and entrepreneurial skills.
Participants had the chance to learn from facilitator KyAmbernecia Earvin, who guided them in expressing their emotions through writing. The Bookcamp focused on helping youth explore their creative potential and build confidence in their writing abilities.
Participants learned to transform their ideas into books that they could publish and sell, gaining valuable entrepreneurial skills along the way. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s important for young people to articulate their thoughts and feelings, and this workshop aimed to do just that.
Dr. Shequite Johnson stated, “The Youth Entrepreneurship Bookcamp empowers youth to express their emotions through writing, guiding them to create and sell their own books, fostering creativity, confidence, and entrepreneurial skills.”
This sentiment reflects the workshop’s mission to inspire and equip the next generation of writers and entrepreneurs. The event was sponsored by the GAP Leadership Program and the local Girl Scouts, showcasing a community commitment to empowering youth. Attendees engaged in interactive activities designed to inspire creativity and practical workshops, learning about the processes of writing, publishing, and marketing their work. They left with not only knowledge but also the skills needed to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. The Youth Entrepreneurship Bookcamp represents a significant step toward fostering a new generation of creative thinkers and doers.
By providing a platform for youth to express themselves and develop business skills, this event paves the way for their future endeavors in both the literary and entrepreneurial worlds.
