I awoke about 3 yesterday morning burning up, drenched in sweat, which also led to a sinus flare up. I proceeded to check the thermostat. It was set to 68; my fan and ceiling fan were on as well.

At the beginning of the year, I committed to rereading the whole Bible.

Recently, I reread Matthew 9. In Verses 1-9, a paralyzed man was brought to Jesus to be healed. The text states that after Jesus saw his faith, He said to the paralyzed man, “Be encouraged, my child. Your sins have been forgiven.”

As I reread Mark 4 this morning, particularly verses 35-41, it reminds me of where we are right now with this virus spreading across the land.

Deontay Wilder just lost a fight recently to Tyson Fury. Before Wilder’s loss, his record was 42-0-1, which means that he won 42 fights, lost none, and tied in 1. Out of those 42 fights, I think in 41 of those 42 fights,  he “knocked out” his opponent.

Life happens to us all. None of us are exempt from some form of suffering. My suffering may not be yours and yours may not be mine, but we all have those days...those moments...those seasons that are draining, tiring, painful, and uncomfortable.

The real issue is, "How do you respond to those times?"

I went to the doctor this morning.

When I left the doctor, I stopped by Walgreens to pick up my medicine.

As I was standing in line awaiting my turn with two people in front of me and me being the last, I looked to my left and saw that they had the single bottles of Dasani water on sale.

My favorite brand. (Catch that.)

I was rereading John 11 this morning. For those who have not read it, Lazarus (Martha and Mary’s brother) had been dead for four days.

Martha received word that Jesus was coming to town, and she went to meet Him.

She didn’t wait on Jesus to come to her. (Catch That- Desperate times call for desperate measures.)

My devotion this morning led me to reread Matthew 15.

While reading, verses 21-28 spoke to me. For those who haven’t read it, Jesus had left Galilee and traveled to Tyre and Sidon with his homeboys (the disciples).

At the beginning of the new year, I committed to rereading the whole Bible.

This morning, I read Genesis 39.

For those who have not read it, Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders and sold to an Egyptian officer (Potiphar). There he served in the home of Potiphar.
