Ken Featherstone has been re-elected mayor of Indianola.
Featherstone won the Democratic primary runoff held Nov. 4, defeating Steve Rosenthal by a narrow margin, according to official certified totals released by Sunflower County election officials.
Featherstone secured 52.79% of the vote, finishing with 1,221 total votes. Rosenthal received 1,092 votes, or 47.21%.
Featherstone led in both absentee ballots and Election Day turnout.
A total of 2,313 ballots were cast in the mayor’s race.
The certified totals also included the Democratic runoff for Ward 5 alderman. Rodreigus Young won decisively over Sam Brock Jr. Young received 269 votes (63.59%), while Brock collected 154 votes (36.41%). Young held a strong lead in both absentee and in-person voting, winning 32 absentee ballots to Brock’s 19, and 237 Election Day votes to Brock’s 135.
Turnout statistics on the report indicate that 2,318 voters participated out of 4,659 registered voters, representing 49.38% participation.
The results have been signed and certified by election officials.
