What is worse than multiple days of rain in a row?
To some it is a beautiful sunny day where the temperatures reach the mid-70s and water is standing in the streets, flower beds and lawns.
Even with all this disappointment there is hope that spring is right around the corner.
However, these late spring-like temperatures give a false sense that we can put away winter wardrobes and pull out shorts, sandals, sunglasses and get to playing outside next week.
Keep in mind the chance for a late freeze is always there no matter what today feels like.
For the past 5 years (2013-2017) the last freeze dates have ranged between February 13 and March 27.
With the date range so wide we must always be wary of a late freeze and protect against that.
Research suggests that on average our last freeze will occur between March 22 and 26.
Again predicting weather can be tricky for even the professional meteorologists.
If you are dying to scratch the dirt try a combination planter that is full of color and different species.
When doing this you have the option of moving the pot to protect it or removing all of the injured plants and replacing them.
If plants, such as geraniums, have been in the garage or inside all winter they can be placed outside for brief periods but definitely not for good.
If vegetables are what you are thinking about remember that the bulk of our vegetables are being planted around mid-April.
