Easter has always been my favorite holiday because it reminds me of the greatest truth I have ever known — that Jesus Christ rose from the grave, and because he lives, we can live also. Resurrection Day is not just history on a page; it is the story of hope, love and transformation that is still changing lives today, including mine.
To be clear, Easter is not about dyed eggs, jelly beans, Easter baskets or bunny rabbits. Those things may bring smiles and family fun, but the real message of Easter is something much greater. It is about a risen Savior who conquered sin and death and offers us new life through his resurrection.
At the same time, I have to admit that I love almost everything about the Easter season. I love hearing the little children stand and say their Easter speeches. I enjoy seeing everybody dressed up in bright colors, families gathered together and plates full of good food. I love the fun, the fellowship and the special meals that are prepared. I love the Easter revivals, the Good Friday services, the Seven Last Sayings of Jesus and those early morning sunrise services that greet the new day with praise. I enjoy the holiday, but through it all, I still know what the true meaning is and what Easter is really all about.
There was a time when I tried to walk through life on my own strength. But when I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, everything changed. He forgave my sins, washed away the guilt and gave me a new purpose. The old ways and old habits began to fall away, and he started shaping me into a new creature — one who finds joy in serving, peace in the storm and strength to keep pressing forward.
I also know I am not the only one who needs that kind of grace. The truth is, all of us need forgiveness. We are all works in progress, striving to be better Christians and better people. We are trying to do right, but we do not always get it right. Thank God we are saved by grace and forgiven through Jesus Christ, not by our own perfection.
That is what Easter means to me. The resurrection is not just something we read about once a year; it is power that still works every day. The same Jesus who stepped out of the grave is still calling people to come to him, offering forgiveness, love and eternal life. If you do not know him yet, I want you to know that he loves you deeply. No matter who you are or what you have done, he died for you, and he rose again so that you could live a life full of freedom, purpose and peace.
So this Easter, as you enjoy family gatherings, church services or quiet moments of reflection, I hope you will open your heart to the one who conquered death for you. He changed my life — and he can change yours too.
Happy Resurrection Day, my friends. May the risen Christ fill your heart with hope and new life today and always.
