Cherrelle soared to fame as one of the most influential female Rhythm & Blues singers of the mid-to-late 1980s. In 1984, under the production of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, she released her debut album, Fragile, which went gold, in appreciation to the chart topping single, "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On".
