Funeral services for Frances Barnett Flemings, 86, were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at The Lamp Ministries Church, Inverness. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church. Burial followed at Green Crest Gardens, Belzoni.
Frances passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, in Florence.
She was born in Vaiden to Joseph D. Barnett and Blanche Carter Barnett, and was a very compassionate person who loved the Lord. Frances loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Flemings; daughter, Betty Sue Bowman; son, Garry Dean Flemings; four sisters, Dorothy Alford, Mildred Henderson, Catherine Ervin and Gladys Boyles; and three brothers, J.P. "Pete" Hobsen, James L. Barnett and Roy Cecil Barnett.
She is survived by two daughters, Tonua Flemings and Robin Flemings; three sons, Melvin Flemings Jr. (Patricia), Buddy Ray Flemings (John DeLong) and Joseph Ray Flemings (Megan); brother, Joseph D. Barnett; 20-plus grandchildren; 20-plus great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements were under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola.
