The Mississippi Department of Public Safety's first Mississippi's Most Wanted list resulted in the capture of half the people listed last week, including a man whose last known address was in Sunflower County.
Jessie Dennis Jr., who had been wanted in Grenada County for felony rape, was captured after a Clinton police officer recognized him from a traffic stop, according to a news report. His last known address was in Doddsville.
Five of the initial 10 Most Wanted are now behind bars, MDPS says.
Dennis, (aka Jessie Lee Dennis) was wanted by the Grenada County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation for Felony Rape,” the release said. “In April 2017, the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Dennis for forcibly raping his female victim in his car after threatening to kill her with a pistol, MDPS said in its original release.
