The 2020 Labor Day weekend has been marred by an apparent Sunday double shooting in Indianola that resulted in the deaths of two women.
Late Sunday afternoon, Indianola police were working the crime scene in the 900 block of Pershing Avenue.
According to IPD Chief Edrick Hall, his officers received the call at 4:24 p.m., arrived at the Pershing Avenue home and found two women deceased at the scene from what appear to be gunshot wounds.
Officers have a person of interest in custody.
Due to the close relationship between the person of interest and the victims, The E-T has opted not to identify the person until the victims’ next of kin are notified.
Hall said no further details are available at this time.
He said charges will likely be filed within the next 12-24 hours.
It is too early to say in the investigation what the charges will be, Hall said.
