The act of furthering their athletic careers past high school was recently made in a public fashion by a pair of Indianola Academy student athletes.
Speaking of Spencer Roberson and Thomas Putnam, “I am excited for the opportunities Spencer and Thomas have as a result of their hard work. I look forward to watching them compete at the next level in the future”, said IA Head Baseball Coach Clete Putnam.
Roberson is headed to Hinds Community College in Raymond to play two sports for the Eagles athletic program.
The son of Billy Roberson and Callie Bell is expected to grace the Eagles’ baseball field as a pitcher and the football field as a kicker.
Roberson was selected as an MAIS All-State pick as a kicker this past fall.
Roberson’s roles for the Colonels this spring include time on the pitcher’s mound and roaming the outfield.
Meanwhile, Thomas Putnam will become a member of the Mississippi Delta Community College baseball team next school year.
After being selected as an All-District pick while a catcher for the Colonels last spring, Putnam will play multiple positions for IA this season.
An All-State pick (All-Purpose Player) on the football field as well following IA’s recent football season, Putnam is listed as a Utility Player baseball commit for Head Coach Dan Rives’ Trojans.
The senior is the son of Clete and Ashley Putnam.
