Reportedly, no one was injured during an audacious afternoon robbery at Community Choice Financial in the Lovelace Shopping Center on Saturday. Police Chief Edrick Hall said two men wearing bandannas went into the business around 12:45 p.m. and robbed a clerk at gunpoint before leaving with a large undisclosed sum of money.
As of this report, the men are still at large and Indianola police are seeking the public's help in identifying and capturing the two men responsible for taking the cash.
Hall said the two men made the clerk go to the back and open a safe. They then placed that money in a bag and had the clerk to empty out the cash drawer as well before fleeing the store headed east toward Elmwood Circle.
During a foot search of the perimeter, police found approximately $5,000 of the stolen cash, a handgun and some articles of clothing.
Hall said his officers responded to the scene in just over a minute and he suspects that the men were attemtpting to change clothes in an effort to possibly blend in, since officers had a description of the clothing and when the heard the police approaching, they ran off without the cash and the weapon.
He said although they recovered $5,070, there is still a large sum unaccounted for, so if anyone has any information regarding the two men please contact the Indianola police at 662-887-1811.
Hall said there was video surveillance at the store and investigators will be reviewing video footage as soon as it is available.
