Local developer Sam Rosenthal says Domino’s Pizza has signed a deal to anchor a small commercial development along U.S. 82.
The 4,200-square-foot multi-tenant building will be constructed near Young’s Beauty & Fashions.
“They haven’t had a new construction (project) on Highway 82 in years,” Rosenthal said. “This is the time for it.”
Rosenthal said Domino’s will occupy roughly 1,800 square feet of the development, leaving 2,400 square feet to be filled by either two 1,200-square-foot tenants or one for the entire bay.
He said portions of the building’s exterior will be cypress and another part, particularly on the Domino’s side, will be repurposed tin.
“We’re going for an industrial reclaimed look,” Rosenthal said. “Everything will be reclaimed on the front.”
The franchisee is Mario Varela, owner of four other Domino’s franchises, including ones in Greenville and Greenwood.
Jeff Blackledge is serving as the architect on the project. Bryan Smith at Mid Delta Metal will be the builder, Rosenthal said.
Rosenthal, who owns several commercial and residential properties in Indianola, including the Young’s building, said they will pace off about 10 feet from the side of Young’s creating a walkway between it and the new building. There will be an eight-foot awning on the front of the new building and an area out front where Domino’s can place outside tables.
Rosenthal said this will be a large Domino’s, and there will be seating inside.
There will also be a dedicated drive-thru lane on the side of the building as well.
Rosenthal said that the project will also bring some much-needed concrete and pavement work to the area surrounding the development.
“We’re going to jazz it up some,” Rosenthal said.
He said construction could begin as early as next week with a delivery date sometime in late August.
