Gentry evacuated after second bomb threat since Friday

All students and staff at Gentry High School are safe after a second bomb threat in as many school days forced the evacuation of the school on Monday.

According to Sunflower County Consolidated School District Superintendent Miskia Davis, the school received a threat on Friday that amounted to someone “blowing up the school.”

A similar threat was received today.

“District law enforcement was immediately notified and the building was evacuated,” Davis told The E-T. “No explosives were found on Friday, and they are in the process of clearing the building now. All students and staff are safe and out of harm’s way.”

Students were evacuated to the Gentry football field.
