On Oct. 15, the Roosevelt Community Association Girl Scout troops 30102 and 30103 put forth their hands to help stamp out hunger. The girls traveled to northeast Mississippi to participate in the Rise Against Hunger Program at the Oxford University Methodist Church.
The troops joined in with members of the United Methodist Church of Indianola and the Oxford church and prepared 22,000 bags of freeze-dried foods that were sealed and will be shipped off to third world countries and had a great time in the process.
Pictured at the table, the Girl Scouts helped out in an assembly line that consisted of dried food, grains, vegetables, rice, vitamins, and more. They worked in small groups functioning as runners, packers, sealers, weighers, and stackers.
