It appears that Edrick C. Hall will remain as Indianola’s top cop.
The Commercial Dispatch in Columbus reported this morning Hall gave his letter of resignation to the city after he worked as assistant chief for the department briefly, and he intends to return to his duties in Indianola later this week.
Mayor Steve Rosenthal explained to the Indianola Board of Aldermen during Monday night’s regular meeting that Hall had committed to return to Indianola, even though he was sworn in as assistant chief in Columbus last week.
Rosenthal said Columbus had asked Hall to stay on for a little while to help the department institute a similar policies and procedures program to the one he had put in place in Indianola over the last two years.
Rosenthal expects Hall to return from a period of unpaid leave with the city to full duty on Friday.
It was first reported back in May that Columbus had tapped Hall for the assistant position with the city, and Hall had given his letter of resignation to the City of Indianola, but after community and business feedback, Hall and Rosenthal began to negotiate his return to the force.
The city board did decline to offer Hall a proposed four-year contract that had incremental raises worked into the deal, and opted to offer him a raise to $66,000 a year in salary.
That is the amount Hall would have made in Columbus.
