The Indianola Academy Colonels (13-2) allowed nothing to the Adams County Christian Rebels in the second half of Saturday night’s AAA State Championship game.
Unfortunately, the damage had already been done by ACCS in the second quarter.
After IA jumped on top of the Rebels 17-7, ACCS took advantage of a Colonel offense that lost its leader, senior quarterback Will Davis, to a game-ending concussion.
The rebels scored three unanswered touchdowns to take a 29-17 lead into halftime.
The Colonels defense held up its end of the bargain in the last two quarters, holding the Rebels off the scoreboard, but IA never got a rhythm going on offense and failed to score again.
This marks the fourth consecutive year the Colonels have reached the state title game and the third of those years the team has come up short of the championship trophy
IA”s impressive run under Head Coach Tommy Nester also includes a 48-game home winning streak at Legion Field.
