The Indianola Academy Colonels (1-0) started 2018 almost exactly like they began 2017.
This time, the Colonels’ opening-week victory against the Pillow Academy Mustangs was on the road.
IA defeated the Greenwood team 33-12 on Friday night.
Despite a pair of early turnovers, IA’s offense remained steady, and the defense picked up the offense and held Pillow to zero points in the second half.
At one point during the first half, IA led by just eight points (20-12), but the Colonels pulled away in the second half.
Meanwhile, North Sunflower Academy was the only other area team in action Friday night, falling 48-0 to Delta Streets Academy.
Ruleville’s game was cancelled on Thursday night after a quarter-plus of football was interrupted by lightening.
Gentry will kickoff on Saturday night at Greenville at 7 p.m.
