Indianola native and physician L. Ray Matthews will speak to the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September and October.
Matthews will address the international body on Sept. 27 and Oct. 12.
The Gentry graduate and current Associate Professor of Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine has been one of the leading researchers in Vitamin D over the past decade.
Matthews previously gave keynote addresses to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the Center for Disease Control and one internationally in Abu Dhabi.
According to a release this week, Matthews is collaborating with Princess Maradeun Ogunlanda, Ph.D, MPH and Bio-Tech Pharmacal Inc. in this global initiative to spread the word about Vitamin D benefits to the masses.
The initial phase of the initiative appears to be targeting Nigeria and the African continent.
