Three Indianola men are lucky to be alive after the car in which they were riding left the highway and flipped wheels up in a ditch on Tuesday, shortly after 1 p.m.
When the accident occurred, the men were traveling west on U.S. 82 in a black 1998 Honda Accord after having left the campus of Mississippi Delta Community College.
The 21-year-old driver said he lost control and the car traveled to the left side of the road and apparently flipped end over end when it hit the muddy ditch. One of the passengers alluded to the possibility of a defective tire on the left side of the vehicle as the catalyst for the incident.
They were able to crawl out of the rear window through the mud to get out. A third passenger said he was asleep at the time and was not sure what happened.
Garbage truck driver recuperating
Rosalind Love, the driver of an ADSI garbage truck that ended up on its side on the north shoulder and westbound lane of Westside Avenue on Friday, is home and recuperating.

Love was taken to a Jackson hospital and kept in ICU for monitoring most of Friday and was released early Sunday morning. She reportedly suffered a small fracture in her neck area and bruises and injury to her left leg.
A spokesperson for Love said she is on lots on medication for pain but appears to be doing well.
