Two Indianola natives were given the opportunity to serve as pages for Rep. Sara Richardson Thomas during the recent legislative session at the state’s capitol in Jackson.
Essence S. Baggett, a Gentry High junior and principal’s scholar and Allisa Simpson, also a principal’s scholar and freshman at St. Joseph Catholic School in Greenville, served the week of March 19 to March 23.
According to online sources, the usual duties of a page are said to be delivering materials and messages within the capitol complex, answering phones in the members' offices and working in the House or Senate Chambers when the General Assembly is in session.
It is said to be an excellent way to learn about and participate in the legislative process of the state.
