After 40 years at Planters Bank and 15 years serving as President & Chief Operating Officer, Randy Randall has announced his retirement.
Ruleville native Alan Hargett will assume that role, and the bank has also appointed Jim Quinn to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer, a release from Planters Bank this week said.
“It’s been an honor to serve this community and the Planters region,” Randall said in a statement. “I believe the growth of Planters is a reflection of our exemplary staff as well as our continued commitment to quality service, and I’m pleased to be part of that ongoing story.”
These moves come as the bank enters its 98th year of existence in the Delta region.
“With the implementation of our strategic management succession plan, Planters Bank enters 2018 ready to capitalize on and develop new opportunities for service to our expanding market region,” said Planters Bank Chairman & CEO Jimmy Clayton.
Randall who joined the Planters system in 1978, will remain involved with the bank for the foreseeable future, serving as President of Planters Holding Co. and as a member of the bank’s board of directors.
“Randy’s customer-focused leadership has guided Planters through an unprecedented period of expansion and success,” said Clayton. “Looking to the future where both challenges and opportunities abound, we expect that singular customer focus to form and shape our growth as we head toward the year 2020, when Planters will celebrate its 100-year anniversary as an institution of immense strength and vitality supporting our region.”
According to the release, during Randall’s tenure as President & COO, the bank grew to a billion dollar institution, with 225 employees across 13 communities.
The bank is currently ranked No. 9 on the list of the largest financial institutions in Mississippi.
Hargett, Randall’s replacement, joined Planters in 1989 after earning his degree from Mississippi State University.
He has served in the role of commercial lender and President of the bank’s Ruleville office. He was later promoted to Chief Credit Officer and is a member of the bank’s board of directors.
Hargett also serves as a member of the board for the Mississippi Bankers Association.
He is a member of the Indianola Rotary Club and is a Deacon a First Baptist Church in Indianola. He an his wife, Leigh, are the parents of two sons, Luke and Maddox.
Quinn, a Greenwood native, also earned his degree from Mississippi State and joined Planters in 1999 as vice president of the Greenwood office. He would later serve as president of that office starting in 2011.
Quinn is an active member in the Greenwood community and serves as an elder at Frist Presbyterian Church of Greenwood. He and his wife, Beverly, are the parents of one daughter, Madison, and one son, Grayson.
In his new role, Quinn will transfer to the Indianola office of the bank.
“While I’ll miss working with the outstanding staff of the Greenwood office, I’m very excited to take these new responsibilities,” Quinn said. “I’ve seen under Randy’s and Alan’s leadership roles Planters lending platform has provided a vibrant engine of growth for our market area, and I look forward to continuing that growth.”
The release said that Randall also plans to remain on in a consulting role, providing continuity and support.
