Commerce in the city of Ruleville is booming.
Benefiting from both a revitalized North Sunflower Medical Center and a busy four-lane intersection in Highway 49 and Highway 8, the town has recently seen the addition of a Bumpers restaurant and a new Dollar General.
And more is on the way.
Real estate developer and NSMC Executive Director Billy Marlow is currently in the process of developing a retail strip center on one of the quadrants of 49 and 8 that will include a 4,000-square-foot Mexican restaurant, along with other tenants that are still in negotiations.
"We're putting the top on it," said Marlow of Mexican Grill, which is slated to open after the first of the year. "There will be several smaller stores. It's a hot corner."
All total, the strip will include around 25,000 square feet of leasable space.
Marlow said the traffic count is around 10,000 cars a day going past the crossroads.
Aside from the brick and mortar tenants, Marlow said a space on the property is being designated for a potential farmer's market to operate throughout the year.
Marlow is acting as the general contractor for the project. Eley Engineering is the architect.
