The Sunflower County Economic Development District held its first in a series of free monthly workshops aimed at providing business owners and entrepreneurs with the tools they need to be more successful in today’s economic environment.
At Thursday’s session, presenter Brittany Davis-Green, co-founder of Dynasty Media & Management Co., addressed the subject matter ofusing social media in business. The topics range from the best platforms to use to reach your target market to proper use of a hashtag.
Davis-Green told her audience that they must have compelling content, attractive visuals and their posts should be consistent. By way of explanation, she expressed that posting consistently involved two elements—the number of times and the tone of the post, emphasizing to be mindful of how they present their brand.
In addition, she explained the “anatomy of a successful Facebook page and charged the group to ponder if what they are posting is something they would stop to read themselves.
Davis-Green introduced the group to her “Brittany Tips” wherein she advised them to pay attention to what is working for them, including their likes, shares, and comments. She said it is imperative that they use high quality photos and videos, she shared a list of online resources to aid the owners and named some free online options that provide royalty-free images.
Davis-Green also noted the importance of the business owners knowing their audience, engaging their audience and providing error-free content to their audience.
The workshop is held from noon to 1 p.m. and organizer Shelia Waldrup said future seminars will focus on other economic-related topics and she encouraged the entrepreneurs to submit subjects that are of interest to them and even offered them an opportunity to co-sponsor upcoming sessions.
